EEXI/EEDI CALCULATION
All vessels over 400 GT are required to calculate the "Attained EEDI" (Energy Efficiency Design Index) or the "Attained EEXI" (Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index) and to carry the corresponding technical documentation on board in accordance with MARPOL Annex VI, Chapter 4. The applicable index depends on the vessel’s year of build. Both the calculation and the technical documentation are part of the International Energy Efficiency Certificate.
A respective re-calculation of the EEDI or EEXI is always necessary if a structural change of the ship takes place that affects its dimensions, capacity or engine power, changes the ship type, alters the vessel to such an extent that it is considered a new ship, or if a substantial modification leads to an exceedance of the calculated required EEDI or EEXI.
Swiss Climate takes care of the calculation of the Attained EEDI or Attained EEXI, prepares the required technical documentation according to the regulatory requirements and advises you on any necessary measures to ensure that your vessels are and remain in full compliance.
