Municipal energy consultancy
In the Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG), the federal and state governments have committed themselves to introducing energy-saving measures from 2024 onwards. These measures are intended to achieve annual final energy savings of 45 terawatt hours at the federal level and 3 terawatt hours at the state level by 2030. Municipalities are also expected to contribute to these targets.
To fulfil the exemplary role of the public sector in improving energy efficiency, energy or environmental management systems are to be introduced across federal, state and municipal levels. In addition, the EnEfG requires the implementation of energy efficiency measures with the goal of achieving annual savings of 2 percent of total final energy consumption.
A clear strategy supported by defined goals and a suitable management system is essential for municipalities. Alongside the ecological benefits, this approach helps to reduce public expenditure, ensures compliance with legal requirements and can enhance the public image and attractiveness of the municipality through effective communication.
Swiss Climate advises municipalities in the fields of energy and mobility. We support the introduction of energy or environmental management systems and assist with the planning and implementation of concrete measures and projects to improve energy efficiency.
